Frequently Asked Questions.

Choosing Treatments or Services

  • Begin with a browse of our Treatments which have detailed descriptions. Alternatively, contact us and we will take some details which will guide us to recommend an appropriate treatment to you.

At Synergy Health, we work as a team of Therapists, focused on treating the body as a whole, functioning system. We aim to work with you to investigate the cause of your issue, not just the symptoms and are able to pair therapies or treatments to help get you back to doing what you love.

Our focus is on you, the patient and your goals so we will be happy to support you on your health and wellbeing journey and to advise on suitable treatments across our range which may change as you progress.

  • In a medical emergency, always dial 999 or 101 if non life-threatening.

Synergy Health aim to offer treatments for genuine emergencies within 24-48hours. Contact 07942 141019 to discuss your situation. Examples of an emergency would include, but are not limited to: dislocations or hypermobility care.

  • We offer a wide range of group sessions across different treatment types. These are available from our workshop room at Synergy Health Kendal as well as corporate group sessions at your place of work (covering a large geographical area) or group sessions at residential care homes.

Please get in touch to discuss your requirements. We can tailor our sessions to suit your needs - such as combining treatments or adapting to specific health conditions.

We also offer discount packages on corporate group bookings for individual treatments.

  • An appointment with a Synergy Health Chiropractor or Osteopath will include an initial medical examination.

If the Chiropractor/ Osteopath believes an MRI or X-Ray is necessary, they are able to make a referral through the NHS and direct to the hospital. This can be as quick (or in some cases, possibly quicker!) than a referral via your GP (depending on the availability of appointments with your GP).

Your Synergy Health Chiropractor or Osteopath are also able to review the results of your scan with you and discuss next steps and treatment options.

The medical examination may determine a different course of action to an MRI or X-Ray. They may also be able to offer immediate relief or progress without waiting for scan reports by performing minor adjustments where these are identified to be the cause of or adding to your issue.

With your permission they can also access your previous X-Ray and MRI reports to inform your treatment (note it can take time to access these documents but in some cases can be very beneficial)..

  • Synergy Health is able to provide a medical assessment suitable for insurance purposes or where required to obtain a driving licence. Please contact us to arrange an appointment.

  • Synergy Health's mission is to help get you back to doing what you love.

We know how hard it can be when answers aren't offered, results are inconclusive or navigating different specialists feels too much. We know we can't cure everything but we can support you on your health journey.

We have medically trained practitioners and understand the Health system so we can advocate for you where necessary, make referrals and help you navigate conflicting advice or treatments.

'Synergy' means working together where the combined effort is greater than the individual parts alone - and that is our ethos. Our Team focus on the whole body as a functioning system, looking to treat the cause of the issue not just the symptoms. We will work with you to help you achieve or revise your goals so they are realistic and then get there.

We do this through a combination of working with you to investigate the underlying cause of your symptoms, offering a wide range of effective treatments, including pain management which in itself can help unlock progress to your recovery and give you day-to-day relief or coping strategies.

We also provide support and continuity every step of the way, with access to the latest medical research and understanding and won't bounce you between therapies or specialists - we can help you make sense of results to date, suggest new alternatives or combine treatments offered within Synergy Health without you having to reexplain your medical history - we work as a team to help you.

Even with terminal illnesses or permanent injuries - therapies such as pain management, counselling or relaxation therapies can have a positive impact on your wellbeing. It might be possible to help treat side effects of medication or prevent future/resolve follow-on issues where the body is over-compensating body load on a particular joint or system from the original problem.

Many of our patients have achieved progress and relief from their issue or injury when their GP or various specialists had been unable to assist. We have a number of Clients who had felt lost before they came to us and with our support made progress in their recovery- even when they had previously been told there were no answers. This is where Synergy Health Kendal specialises - supporting you in your rehabilitation and recovery - working with you on your health journey to get results and looking after your whole wellbeing.

Westmorland and Furness Council offer a voluntary social car service, enabling people to access appointments through a pick up / drop off service by car and costing you only 36p for each mile travelled (25p after 20 miles) which can be much more affordable than a taxi in rural areas.

Synergy Health also offer home visits in specific circumstances. If you are struggling to access us, please get in touch to see if we can assist.

  • There is a toilet available on the ground floor and drinking water available in the reception area.

    Limited car parking is available.

There is space to park a mobility scooter/tramper securely on site (unfortunately we cannot currently offer covered parking).

We have a treatment room and toilet facilities located on the ground floor along with our reception and group therapy / workshop room. Our toilet facilities are fitted with accessibility aids including handrails and an alarm.

Doorways and corridors are suitable for wheelchair access. There are two individual small steps into the clinic building which we are working to resolve as part of our refurbishment. We will endeavour to provide assistance accessing the entrance where necessary in the interim.

If you require the downstairs treatment room please inform us at the time of booking so we can ensure this room will be available. We aim to be disability aware - if you have any further feedback on how we can improve accessibility - we would be happy to hear it.

  • Reception is not always attended.

Sometimes for security reasons when reception is unattended the main entrance may be locked.

If you have an appointment, in the first instance ring the bell to alert the Therapist you have arrived. If no response, they may still be with a patient - please call the main clinic number which will be diverted and someone should answer.

For general enquiries we always recommend phone or email in the first instance and someone will get back to you.

We want all our Clients to feel comfortable when attending their appointments. If you wish to view Synergy Health Kendal before booking an appointment - a free of charge 'welcome' appointment can be arranged when a receptionist / the Practice Manager is present. They will also be able to help answer any questions you may have on different Treatments if you wish.

Attending Your Appointment

  • You should wear comfortable and loose clothing, and arrive in good time for your appointment to allow you to settle down in our reception area where you can wait to be met by your therapist to take you to the treatment room.

Your therapist will begin by taking a medical history covering your general health, present and previous conditions that you wish to improve. More information on what to expect for each type of treatment is available on the individual Treatment pages.

The session will conclude with the therapist explaining what they have found and giving you advice on how best to maintain the changes that have occurred in the consultation. They will discuss with you onward care and may recommend a course of treatments depending on individual circumstances.

  • If you need to rearrange your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. Unfortunately appointments cancelled or rescheduled within 48 hours of the appointment are still chargeable.

  • If you use what3words, entering ///area.closer.spare will bring you straight to our main entrance.

Additional directions and a map are available on the Finding Us page.
